IT Project Manager - 12month Contract

Aspire Cambridge are recruiting for an IT Project Manager for a fixed term contract of 12 months on behalf of our client in Cambridge, UK.

We are delighted to be supporting this prestigious Cambridge based client with the recruitment of an experienced IT Project Manager.  This is a 12 month fixed term contract which is a great opportunity to work with one of the world's top names in wireless communications, based in the heart of Cambridge's vibrant tech cluster.

You'll be responsible for identifying budget and resource needs and coordinating project activities across IT functional areas. You will work with resource managers to assign and monitor work of technical personnel, ensuring that project steps are in alignment with business objectives, on-time and within budget. You will also monitor reliability and any internal issues that appear as a result of the project.  Projects may be small or large in scale and be regional or global, requiring the ability to work with remote teams. Some regional travel may be required, but your main place of work will be in Cambridge, UK.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute project plans for varying sized projects which include schedule and resource forecasting, stakeholder identification, method and frequency of communication, scope and prioritisation.
  • Create and promote project vision and objectives within project team, ensure project/program objectives are met, present project vision to management, and gain buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Identify resources to ensure the alignment of team member skills and strengths with project demands, create project teams, secure resources, schedule task assignments for medium projects/programs by following best practices and recommend process improvements.
  • Communicate directly with stakeholders to establish needs and goals, and execute communication/change management plan for project team, stakeholders, management and executives.
  • Manage project performance (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope, and with quality) for projects/programs of medium to large size or complexity.
  • Support the compliance of project plans by following best practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and project sponsors to develop project goals, set the prioritisation of deliverables, discuss involvement of business processes (e.g., project change management, communication) and facilitate decisions necessary for project delivery.
  • Ensure and facilitate collaboration with diverse project stakeholders throughout the project by using appropriate tools.
  • The role requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex information to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question.
  • Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
  Requirements for the role are:
  • Degree in the areas of IT, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years' Project Management-relevant work experience in IT.
  • PMO, PMP, PRINCE2, or Six Sigma Project Management Certification.
  • 4+ years' of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 4+ years' managing operating budgets and/or project financials.
  • A background in delivering projects in IT Infrastructure, Security and End User Experience preferred; with a good understanding of IT practices and processes.

Salary: £50,000+
