HAYWARD HAWK is pleased to be recruiting for a Senior Product Manager (Software). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Product Manager who wishes to join a dynamic team. This is a central role to enable the company’s strategic direction to become a provider of enterprise software solutions for the business.


Responsibilities

The Senior Product Manager (Software) is responsible for developing the company’s commercial software offering, both in the UK and internationally. The role will be responsible to the COO and ultimately to the Group Board.

The role will require the establishment of suitable processes and structures to support each business unit within the Group. Product Management will require planning and execution through all stages of the product lifecycle through gathering and prioritising product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and developing an attractive proposition of software modules supporting packaged business capabilities for the company’s customers.

This will involve working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, and research departments to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. This will include interacting with customers regarding the functional capabilities of the software as part of the sales process, support for tender submissions and involvement with 3rd party partner relationships as required.

The Senior Product Manager (Software) will work closely with customers to understand their needs and feed this information back to the wider company and use this input to develop product roadmaps that closely align our internal engineering plans with the needs of our customers and the opportunities that we must add value and grow the business.

With an existing well developed software capability in the company, including deep expertise in the development of specialised algorithms and the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques, this role offers an exciting opportunity to manage the ongoing development of these capabilities into market ready software solutions providing recurring revenue that can evolve and grow in line with our strategic goal to deliver a broader range of software solutions to the global energy and transport market.


Responsibilities include:

The ability to assess the needs of infrastructure companies through review of documentation made available by the industry, attendance at industry events and through discussions with customers and potential customers in these markets.
Ability to engage with customers at Senior Management Level will be required and to work internally with sales, marketing, and engineering teams and externally with customers and partner organisations. This will require excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of documenting and communicating requirements in the context of the initiation and support of the product development lifecycle.
This role will require a flexible approach to international travel and an ability to interact successfully with a wide variety of colleagues, partners, and customers.

Education/Professional Qualifications
  • 3rd Level Education in a related discipline

Experience
  • Assessment of market/industry information to maintain detailed subject matter expertise
  • Define and specify market requirements to feed into the product development lifecycle
  • Management of a customer roadmap
  • Interaction with Engineering in the context of New Product Introduction (NPI) activities
  • Working with the sales team on specific customer opportunities:
  • Making customer sales presentations
  • Providing written responses/proposals to customer’s requirements
  • Providing support for customer presentations on system functionality including product demonstrations
  • Working key software team members and with the Algorithm team (Lisburn) and AI Centre in Parma, Italy to develop novel solutions for industry challenges
  • Providing subject matter expertise in the context of smarter and more flexible infrastructure solutions for our customers
  • Problem analysis/need identification, solution scoping, and definition
  • Leading customer workshops and requirements sessions
  • Scoping and seeking funding for product development and innovation projects

Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Software Product Management of enterprise software solutions in energy/rail
  • Experience in Innovation Projects
  • Knowledge and experience of Energy Networks and Transport sectors
  • Knowledge of the following areas: Electricity Distribution and Transmission Networks, Transformer Monitoring, Fault Management
  • Knowledge of regulatory obligations
  • Knowledge of diverse industry requirements in international markets
  • Good network of contacts in UK and Internationally in the Energy and Transport sectors
  • Knowledge of other Innovation Funding channels
