Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Assist Operations Director and Production Team to improve and update existing designs to achieve the best use of common components, improve quality and improve efficiency
  • Creating 3D CAD modelling and drafting on Autodesk Inventor of components and equipment to aid the Production Team
  • Preparation of documentation for manufacture and assembly
  • Liaise with suppliers regarding conformity to order, specification, quality and builds
  • Liaise with supplier regarding purchasing of third-party components
  • Arrange Type Approval and IVA’s and ensure conformity of Production Audits
  • Help with running the factory, leading teams and liaising with other departments

Qualifications and Experience of the
Mechanical Design Engineer
  • Must be able to draw 3D CAD and have experience in designing bracketry & creating build manuals
  • Experience in a 3D design package – Autodesk, AutoCad, Solid Works and Catia and be proficient in using Autodesk Inventor
  • Have a relevant qualification i.e. HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • Ideally experience of coordinating people/resource allocation
  • Relevant qualification i.e. HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerances
  • Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail with a proactive and positive attitude towards solving problems
  • Experience in working to tight deadlines and the ability to work on your own initiative
In return, a Mechanical Design Engineer will receive a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
