Our client, a highly successful and entrepreneurial multi-site retailer, are looking for an experienced finance professional to join their organisation at an exciting time in their evolution.
This is a new role which will initially lead an exciting transformation programme  before assuming the day to day responsibilities of a Financial Controller.  Please note that the focus of the role for the first 6 months will be the transition project planning and execution. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the successful candidate will:
  • Working across the organisation, lead the implementation of the transformation process working closely with the senior finance team,
  • Ensure development and delivery of solutions to improve business insight and the business ability to meet reporting obligations
  • Review, redefine and implement the finance operating model
  • Be accountable for the successful delivery, planning, implementation and embedding of the Finance deliverables in the organisation
  • Map critical processes identifying what issues are with remediation plans for solutions
  • Optimise end to end finance processes focussing on cross team, matrix working to deliver outcomes and ensure control optimisation
  • Lead a process to ensure that current and future business requirements are comprehensively mapped
 
On successful completion of the transformation programme, the Financial Controller will assume responsibility for:
 
  • Preparation and review of Management accounts, Balance Sheet and P&L accounts
  • Be responsible for statutory accounts, corporation tax computation and statutory returns
  • Supervision and leading of the annual audit process and working with auditors to ensure compliance on statutory accounts and tax requirements for annual returns
  • Responsible for the cash management of the company, ensuring that cash flows are accurately monitored and forecasts
  • Liaising with HMRC across the different tax regimes to ensure compliance with legislation and timely reporting and payments
  • Ensuring adherence to all financial and legal obligations regarding accounts, expenditure and reporting
 
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant who has previously operated as a Finance Manager/ Financial Controller. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate
 
  • Strong commercial, and technical capabilities.
  • An entrepreneurial, can do attitude with the ability to lead and develop a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and Repot building skills
  • A flexible approach to ways of working with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organisation
 
In return, our client offers a salary betweem £80k and 90k plus a car/ car allowance, bonus and pension schemes.
