Senior Credit Controller

Job Description:
  • To support the Central Credit Control admin function to ensure debt is at an acceptable level and the risk of bad debt is minimised.
  • Assist in the administration of the automated debt system (circa 25,000 accounts) ensuring all processes are delivered to the agreed SLAs.
  • Issue Weekly Debt Reports highlighting key issues and areas for escalation
  • Build effective relationships between Credit Control and the staff to ensure the debt process is followed correctly and the debt is being actively chased.
  • Carry out weekly debt calls with the FBPs, documenting all correspondence and detailing the action points agreed.
  • Carry out weekly debt calls with the Regional Directors and FBPs, documenting all correspondence and detailing the action points agreed.
  • Work as a cohesive unit to ensure everyone is proactively involved in driving continuous improvement in process and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the Accounts Receivable team to optimise performance and maintain the highest level of service.
  • Work closely with the outsource debt company to assist with queries and reporting.
  • Meet personal KPI’s, targets and support the Credit Control Team to meet team monthly targets and KPI’s.
  • Assist in ensuring all processes and procedures are documented, published and trained including obtaining accounting and legal sign off where required.
  • Assist in the implementation of effective training that develops, motivates and inspires each team member to ensure that they deliver 1st class customer service.
  • On occasion you may be asked to perform additional duties or duties unrelated to your role after appropriate training has been given.
Person Specification:
  • Qualification Level – preferably AAT Level 4 or equivalent
  • Significant experience in an end to end Credit Control role within a complex, high volume, fast paced environment.
  • Have a genuine desire to achieve results through teamwork.
  • Demonstrable track record in driving change and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel skills, in particular pivot tables and formulas.
  • Are results driven, with the ability to coach and motivate team members to maximise results and lower overall bad debt.
  • Proven ability to forward plan, manage your own time and have exceptional organisational skills.
  • Experience of implementing and working to strict financial controls and deadlines.
  • Commitment to 1st class customer service.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in pressurised situation and deliver a quality product to agreed timescales.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal, written and presentation experience.
