About the Company

Our client is a national 3rd party logistics provider with ambitious growth aspirations who are seeking an individual with expertise and knowledge of warehouse automation and technological solutions.
As Logistics Automation Development Manager you will help the business to identify, evaluate and implement technologies which will enhance our operating capability, service and efficiency.

Logistics Automation Development Manager - Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of warehousing automation and technological solutions
  • Good knowledge of existing and emerging technologies appropriate to warehouse operations with the ability and experience to identify those which will be commercially viable
  • Have a demonstrable track record of developing concepts and designs which, when implemented have delivered tangible benefits.
  • Most likely this experience will have been gained within an automation, e-commerce, FMCG or 3PL logistics environment
  • Successful track record working in a technical sales or solutions design role with commercial acumen
  • Personable, professional and flexible with the ability to adapt their approach to suit individual customers requirements
  • Ability to lead projects and also contribute as part of the business development and wider teams including tender processes
  • Technically proficient using advanced Microsoft Office Excel functionality (macros; pivot tables; data links; lookups; etc.) with the ability to deal with complex data management
  • Confident communicating with Senior Management, Key Stakeholders and customers up to and including Board Level
  • A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the company and customer
  • Capable of working under pressure to meet critical deadlines and complete objectives
  • Ability to use warehouse/automation simulation tools e.g. CLASS a benefit but, not essential
  • Excellent analytical and IT skills essential to produce data driven proposals
  • Comfortable communicating at board level and articulating solutions to our customers
Logistics Automation Development Manager - Responsibilities
  • Analyse operational and customer requirements including operational data and tender documents
  • Make recommendations which are logical and data driven
  • Evaluate financial considerations and assess both operational and commercial risks
  • Contribute to the design of warehouse solutions taking into account available technology and automation as well as industry best practice
  • Develop and execute appropriate models to determine resources (people, equipment, property, IT, etc.) to feed into financial models
  • Work in conjunction with procurement to obtain equipment/systems quotes from relevant providers
  • Provide detailed financial and operational comparisons for alternative solutions highlighting the risk
  • Prepare tender response documentation and presentations
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of developments in the industry through membership of a professional body (e.g. CILT), attending industry events and training courses
  • Support the implementation of automation and technology
