About the Position: The Outside Sales Director – Building Automation Controls Supplies…Under general direction of the Chief Sales Officer, the Outside Sales Director provides leadership to the company’s outside sales professionals to optimize growth and increase market share from controls contractors.  The Outside Sales Director leads the team of outside sales professionals to drive account growth and opportunity management strategies to help customers win. The successful candidate coordinates outside sales activities with the company’s inside sales team activities and serves as a key leader on the senior sales leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the outside sales team members that are situated throughout North America to achieve the company’s financial and strategic goals and objectives by leading the following strategies:
  • Management of assigned accounts of the outside sales team
  • Opportunity management of strategic projects assigned to the outside sales team
  • Drives monthly sales performance to budget and forecast across North America.
  • Ensures that the outside sales team works in coordination with the inside sales team, the Memphis-based Sales Directors, and the Senior Director of Strategic Accounts to drive account and opportunity management strategies in order to promote account growth and customer value.
  • Ensures that the outside sales team follows defined processes through consistent tool usage to enhance sales performance. These processes include, but are not limited to, account plan reviews, opportunity management reviews, and one-on-ones.
  • Increases sales productivity of the outside sales team by ensuring that all direct reports have established goals, personal development plans, and receive a monthly one-on-one.
  • Works with the senior sales leadership team to evaluate and staff additional outside sales team positions throughout North America.
Required Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, marketing, or related field
  • Minimum of five years of sales experience in the construction or BAS market to include sales management and direct sales experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of BAS industry including the role of customers, consultants, contractors, and end users as well as demonstrated knowledge of the construction marketplace, financial reporting and relationships with key players in the construction market
  • Knowledge of BAS applications and products and/or complete knowledge of the company’s catalog
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Position will be based in Memphis, Tennessee and will require travel 50-75% of the time
