The Utility Mechanic role is critical to maintaining productivity and efficiencies in our production center.

Position:              Maintenance Utility Mechanic
Location:             Allentown, PA
Pay:                     Base Salary ($17.00 to $21.00 per hour, DOE)
 
The Utility Mechanic role is critical to maintaining productivity and efficiencies in our production center.  The successful candidate will perform multi-trade repairs on steam, water, and mechanical equipment in accordance with engineering repair procedures, to provide continuous uninterrupted production requirements and keep the physical plant running as required. The Utility Mechanic will maintain daily records of services performed and write and/or update any and all documentation on service performed.  This is a third shift position.
 
Responsibilities:  As a Utility Mechanic, your specific duties will include, but are not limited to:
 

  • Performs multi-trade repairs, replacements and preventative maintenance to steam, water, and mechanical equipment
  • Analyze and determine the condition of equipment and perform corrective measures if necessary
  • Able to receive orders, understand them and appraise the problem described by supervisors and production personnel
  • Able to work under minimal supervision
  • Document, record, and maintain daily record of completed work and accomplishments
  • Provide necessary information to initiate a purchase requisition when parts or equipment is needed to complete preventative maintenance or repair project
  • Understanding and ability to work off blueprints and/or mechanical drawings
 
Experience & Education:
 
  • High School degree preferred with demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude
  • Two years trade school certificate or approved courses taken in all trades which will include steam, pipe fitting, plumbing, and mechanical repair
  • Minimum of 2 years multi-trade experience in plumbing, steam fitting and mechanical repair
  • Ability to work overtime
