A Pittsburgh-based start up is looking for a Software Architect to fill this exciting new role that focuses on patient recovery and care!

A Pittsburgh-based start up is looking for a Software Architect to lead the initial design and contribute to the software development efforts in creating a Cloud-based mobile and web platform focused on improving a patient’s recovery results through improved engagement and more efficient delivery of care. 
 
In this role, you’ll be part of building the software development team as well as leading the design, creation, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of software. You will also lead the software team in its relationship to external stakeholders, communicating details of work in meaningful ways to the business and external customers.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Has substantial experience with and understanding of the tools, practices, languages, and frameworks used in the software development lifecycle
  • Software development:
      • Author software to meet the needs of our clients.
      • Debug and resolve issues and defects found in new and existing software.
      • Test software that is being developed to ensure that it is defect-free.
      • Execute all phases and ceremonies of the software development lifecycle
  • Participate in design and code reviews, as a primary reviewer
  • Define specifications and formulate and analyze software requirements
  • Create, analyze, and update database layout and designs
  • Mentor less experienced members of the software team
  • Establish and help ensure best practices of software development lifecycle are adhered to by the software team
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of new tools, languages, and frameworks for the team
  • Support business meetings and presentations to customers as needed
  • Seek out opportunities for operational efficiency and best practices
  • Develop or integrate software tools that improve the quality, reliability, efficiency, accuracy, testability of software
  • Take ownership of and leads the overall testing process for the software team
  • Lead the creation, definition, and adoption of technical standards for the software team
  • Manage the impact and application of industry regulations and standards to the process of software development and testing
  • Displays great written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline or related experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing web and mobile applications
  • Experience developing Cloud architecture
  • Well-versed in Object Oriented Design Principles
  • Experience with Web development languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or HTML5
  • Experience with frameworks such as Angular, React/Redux, SQL databases
  • Database layout and design
  • Knowledge of design patterns and architectural styles
  • Ability to effectively lead communication within a team setting
  • Strength in learning new languages, software development and test techniques, and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience sharing knowledge or mastery of known software languages, development techniques, test techniques, or processes with the rest of the software team with a goal of improving team or business performance
