The role of the Windows System Admin works on a team which involves supporting the planning and analyzing of user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. Work involves technical and tactical execution of projects, technical solutions, enhancements, and modifications to desktop and network infrastructure., as well as installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of local area network, servers, workstations, hardware, and software.
  • Responds thoroughly and promptly to customer needs and meet Service Level Agreements as defined in conjunction with our customers.
  • Manages customer relationships and follows issues through to closure.
  • Includes all aspects of customers (START technology users, IS team members, end-users, etc.).
  • Actively participates in team meetings.
  • Prepares and delivers effective support by seeking a thorough understanding of the team's goals and objectives.
  • Understands the business and clinical processes at START and the operational environments of assigned customers.
  • Focuses on IS team success and promotes collaborative efforts with others. Shifts among different support and project roles as required by situation.
  • Adapts well to change and multiple priorities (ability to multi-task).
  • Contributes to the IS Knowledge Repository (Wiki).
  • Acts as a mentor for other IS team members.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience in a system administrator role.
  • Two plus years of experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
  • Two plus years of experience with Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Two plus years of experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager
  • Two plus years of experience with VMWare vSphere
  • Five plus years of experience building and maintaining server platforms running Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Five plus years of experience implementing and maintaining Microsoft Active Directory environments.
  • Three plus years of experience creating and distributing group policies (GPOs).
  • Three plus years of experience managing Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host
  • Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals in networking and data communications.
  • Preferred: Current Microsoft Certified Solutions (MCSE)/Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)/Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate clearly, responsively, and purposely with customers and team members.
  • Develops relationships with users and other IS team members to enhance the timeliness and effectiveness of IT solutions.
  • Seeks to improve talents and skills consistent with overall IS direction.
