SUMMARY
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will plan, direct, coordinate and oversee operational activities ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the organization. This position will provide centralized leadership to a wide variety of departments, with the goal of delivering greater operational excellence towards stability, sustainability, and strategic growth.  The COO oversees day-to-day operating activities, including revenue, expense, cost and margin control, and goal management, and works with company management to continually improve upon company processes.
 
DUTIES
  • Participate in key strategic decision initiatives that can be implemented to improve the direction of the Company.
  • Design and execute business plans, strategies, processes, and procedures that support company’s ability to meet budgetary, cash flow, and other financial goals.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational activities and use of resources/material, leveraging concepts to drive value.
  • Develop, communicate, and manage strategic operational improvement initiatives for growth and directional opportunities for the company.
  • Direct short-term and long-term planning for each location to support strategic goals.
  • Foster positive relationships with company vendors and OEMs to increase mutual success goals.
  • Evaluate and continually improve branch performance by analyzing and interpreting KPIs, data, and metrics.
  • Utilize the company CRM system to analyze data and act on data analysis to propose and implement positive changes in branch operations.
  • Manage the company’s quarterly, 1-year, and 3-year initiatives, with a BHAG in view. This comes from Rockefeller Habits / Gazelle framework.
  • Recruit, motivate, mentor, and empower a high-performing team to achieve company goals; measure team member success on an ongoing basis and coach/take corrective action, as necessary.
  • Execute a consistent performance management process with employees including quarterly reviews and annual goal setting.
  • Live by company’s values; advance and support a culture of leadership, responsibility, accountability, continual improvement, and fun among all employees.
  • Contribute to company’s overall success and perform related duties as assigned by CEO.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors’ degree in business or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience directly or indirectly involved in one or more industry segments related to the industries served by company, its customers, suppliers, or competitors.
  • Minimum ten (10) years in an operations management position demonstrating successful growth.
  • Must have the highest level of ethical standards and exercise exceptional judgment in all circumstances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development and strategic planning
  • Must be able to work under pressure, independently and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Experience leading, building, and optimizing a team.
  • Strong teamwork approach when working both externally and internally.
  • Must be creative, imaginative, positive, and self-motivated.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills when facing operational and management challenges.
  • Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.
  • Excellent computer and mathematic skills (Microsoft Office and CRM system)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a background and credit check.
