COO/Director of Operations

Our client is an established wholesale durable goods distributor that is poised for growth and seeking a dedicated and hungry leader to drive revenue, lead and streamline operations, and help lead the company into a successful future. This position will report to and regularly collaborate with the owner/CEO to develop new channels of distribution, build on current processes and lead all aspects of a small business.

  • Develop and execute on high quality business plans that align with short term and long-term objectives and regularly meet with owner to strategize on the goals and vision.
  • Define growth strategies and implement sales processes to include lead generation, pipeline management, relationship management, etc. to grow the current channel of distribution to furniture retailers and designers
  • Address growing significance of internet by defining and executing on new direct and online sales opportunities.
  • Oversee business operational activities to ensure desired results and accountability with complete autonomy for staffing.
  • Responsible for all office employees, warehouse employees and inventory by leading regular staff meetings, daily huddles and 1-2-1 meetings.
  • Build trusted relationships with new and existing retail accounts to assist in growing sales and identifying new opportunities
  • Full P & L responsibility; Oversee budgets, fiscal management and report accordingly
  • Will be measured on key indicators including sales growth, profit and turnover
  • Bachelor's degree required, prefer graduate degree
  • 10+ years of experience in retail or distribution of consumer products.
  • Demonstrated experience streamlining business operations and driving healthy margins.
  • Deep knowledge of financial statements, including income statement & balance sheet.
  • Experienced with inventory, logistics and purchasing in a distribution setting.
  • Experience working with manufacture reps and distributors
  • Experience with Importing / overseas vendors a plus
  • Furniture, Home Furnishings, or other similar durable goods industry or allied business experience a plus.
  • Some travel required to visit predominantly Texas and other USA customers, periodic trade shows and possibly oversea vendors.
Management level leader with strengths across diverse business functions including sales, marketing, customer success, operations, warehousing, HR, and finance. This will require a creative or entrepreneurial mindset as well as having strong analytical/organizational skills.
