Senior accounting leadership position

Position Summary
This position will report directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller and be responsible for the financial statement close process, preparation of financial statements and maintenance of GL and reporting systems.
 
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Senior accounting leadership position responsible preparing financial statements for executive management and leading the team through the monthly financial statement close
  • Maintain a tight monthly close timeline and schedule
  • Identify and establish priorities for the Accounting team
  • Perform detailed review of balance sheet account reconciliations monthly
  • Month end financial analysis including actual vs. budget and year over year reporting
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and information for management, operations and lender / investors
  • Continuous improvement to financial and operating policies, procedures, and processes that improve consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting and strengthen internal controls
  • Consolidate financial statements for a multi-entity structured environment
  • Integrate financial reporting of recently acquired practices into the consolidated financial reporting framework and modify reporting as needed to incorporate any business changes
  • Strategize with other departments to identify and implement projects that drive efficiencies within the accounting function
  • Key stakeholder representing the accounting function to evaluate the downstream impact of strategic priorities on the accounting operations
  • Coordinate with the Finance team to understand the budget and any future reporting changes
  • Support the budgeting process by providing reports of historical information and assisting the Finance team in understanding accounting impact of new process or changes
  • Lead the implementation of new systems and software as needed
  • Coordinate with external financial statement auditors
  • Responsible for mentoring and professional development of financial accounting team members while ensuring business objectives/goals are met
  • Assist in special projects as necessary
 
Qualifications
 
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will be a strategic, “go-to” business and financial leader with a proven track record of success in a rapid growth company preferably with direct healthcare services experience.
  • Successful track record of progressive accounting experience for at least 8 years
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Strong values alignment and client service orientation (internal and external)
  • Strong preference for prior experience in a PE portfolio company
  • Prior experience with consolidation of multiple entities needed
  • An ability to work with a minimum of direction, with understanding of the importance of effective communication with the CFO, VP Corporate Controller, Assistant Corporate Controller, senior management, clinicians, field executives and others with whom the position interacts.
  • A deliberate thinker that possesses analytical skills, financial acumen, discipline in budgeting and planning and a strongly developed intuitive sense
  • Evidence of a management style, which builds alliances within the organization and emphasizes high morale, collegiality, effective teamwork and high moral standards
  • Excellent communication, teaming, and people skills to interact effectively with other corporate and field-based operational, financial, business office, and administrative personnel
  • Strong understanding of core accounting principles related to financial reporting and internal controls
  • Highly developed people skills to work effectively as a team member with the management team and to motivate, guide, and lead the financial reporting and accounting team.
  • Comfortable working on a team basis with other senior managers and in an organization that is not highly hierarchical
  • A proactive and natural self-starter with initiative, high energy level, work ethic, cool under pressure
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft GreatPlains and Management Reporter a plus
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and Power Point
  • Accountable professional and ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
  • CPA license preferred
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred
