Manager leads the Product Validation and Reliability Engineering groups as well as has responsibility for the Quality Engineering Labs.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality, Reliability.
  • Certification as a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering.
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Quality Engineering & Reliability, the Product Validation and Reliability Engineering manager leads the Product Validation and Reliability Engineering groups as well as has responsibility for the Quality Engineering Labs. Provides technical assistance to the CQE, SQE, and PDD organizations in test selection.  Identifies and develops tests to ensure adequate product stresses in-line with expected customer use cases. Responsible for understanding, documenting, and articulating how reliability and product validation tests correlate to customer product use in the field. Interacts with key internal and external stakeholders as an advocate for the department.
  • Leads the PVRE (product validation and reliability engineering) department with the overarching objective of ensuring that product’s performance is appropriately and thoroughly evaluated.
  • Develops and implements quality assurance protocols and methods used to test and validate finished products, sub-assemblies and components.
  • Provides training, guidance, and support to the Quality Division, as well as Engineering and Operations, on using quality testing principles and procedures
  • Manages performance and development of engineers and technicians. Builds their technical capabilities, knowledge, and skills. Ensures staff prioritizes work tasks efficiently.
  • Ownership of catalog of reliability tests.
  • Interacts with key stakeholders to identify any gaps in battery of tests, as well as the leads the development of those new tests.
  • Ensures that all new products are in compliance with both quality standards and applicable government regulations by performing new product evaluation testing.
  • Oversees the efficient operation of the CQE as well as the Product Validation labs.
  • Owner of the External Product Quality Audits process. Develops, implements, monitors and reports on Product quality audit activities and aids in issue resolution by engaging with CQE, RE, Operations, and organization.
  • Leads implementation of quality tools and techniques to assure ongoing lab process performance and productivity, including analysis of ongoing process capabilities and proposing process improvements.
  • Works with the lab manager to ensure the continued development, improvement, and maintenance of all lab functions, equipment, and personnel in order to meet and support business needs.
  • Conducts studies to make sure that all quality tests are correlated globally. That the labs results are interchangeable regardless of lab location.
  • Understands, documents, and articulates the correlation between reliability tests and customer use cases and product life expectancy.
  • Drives the use of predictive reliability techniques for all new product development projects

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality, Reliability, or Continuous Improvement, with wide-ranging experience using quality tools such as, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action (RCCA), Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) and Weibull analysis, Process and Product Validation and Qualification, MTBF / MTTF analysis, etc.
  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience in a quality related field.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles.
  • Able to provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies.
  • Able to handle performance management and development of staff.
  • Exercises good judgment and provides guidance in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to work independently in analyzing and implementing solutions to problems.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to communicate effectively within the corporation as well as externally (customer and suppliers) to resolve technical issues.
  • Expertise in the use and teaching/coaching of problem resolution techniques.
  • Certification as a Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE); Certified Quality Manager (CQM); Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) is strongly preferred.
  • Willing and capable of domestic and international air travel.
