The Hire Standard is seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Human Resources to align our client’s firm’s HR initiatives and functions with business objectives and business needs. Duties for the Head of HR will include aligning staff to business objectives, recruiting the right talent, enhancing staff performance, supporting employee development, enhancing recruitment efforts, planning strategic HR initiatives, managing HR consultants, running orientation and onboarding processes, communicating role expectations, designing succession plans, maintaining staff relations, managing internships, updating policies and practices, and overseeing wellness and health initiatives. Your experience in human resources management will aid our organization in adding value to overall business objectives, providing HR solutions, resolving personnel grievances, retaining a talented workforce, and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Role Objectives:
  • The ideal candidate for this role should have a good understanding of business functions, good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, and good organizational skills.
  • The noteworthy Head of HR should improve HR initiatives, enhance staff morale, enhance relations between staff and employers, contribute to attaining business goals, promote good HR practices, and attract talented recruits.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the company’s people strategy
  • Developing the HR agenda.
  • Build strong and effective relationships with the leadership team, managers, and employees to become a trusted partner and coach throughout the organization.
  • Developing HR strategies, policies, and practices.
  • Improving and monitoring employee productivity.
  • Structuring compensation and benefits packages.
  • Managing staff wellness initiatives.
  • Improving relations between staff and employers. Identify gaps in culture, training and development, performance management and HR processes, and develop strategies and timelines to address these gaps based on business objectives.
  • Evaluating staffing needs.
  • Lead, build, and implement best practices in Human Resources to attract and retain talent and be competitive in the market.
  • Overseeing recruitment efforts.
  • Managing and allocating HR funds.
  • Engaging with heads of departments.
  • Ensure HR processes are current and manage compliance with federal and state HR laws and regulations.
  • Proactively engage in succession planning discussions with leadership.
  • You've done this before—you have experience in a high-growth startup environment with constant change as your companion; 7+ years of experience working as a Head of People, People Partner, HR Manager, HR Program Manager or similar role
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in human resources and experience in leading human resources for an entire company.
  • Proven work experience as a Head of HR
  • Excellent people management skills

  • Demonstrable experience with HR metrics
  • Thorough knowledge of labor legislation
  • Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices
  • BS degree in Human Resources or related field
  • A biotechnology industry experience is highly preferred. Desire to work in a fast-paced highly collaborative startup biotech environment.
