We are on the hunt for a dynamic and passionate financial controller who can work at a  very fast pace and can cope with a stressful environment. The purpose of this role is the management of the fixed assets process and cashbook and additional ad-hoc financial services functions will be assigned. Ideally, the candidate must be:

Responsibilities
As a successful candidate, your responsibilities will be:
 
Manage the Capex budget process        
  • Agree Capex budget timelines and programmes with the various business units        
  • Obtain and summarise the various business units Capex budgets        
  • Review the Capex budget allocations to ensure correct asset type and useful live        
  • Manage and review of the depreciation calculation for annual budget purposes        
 
Manage the Capex process         
  • Assist the various business units in monitoring Capex spent against budget by preparing monthly summary reports for presentation to Group Financial Manager and EXCO        
  • Understand the IFRS requirements for Property, Plant and equipment (IAS16) as well as Right of Use assets/Lease Liabilities (IFRS16)        
  • Understand and maintain our client Capex policies and update with best practice        
  • Obtain and maintain an understanding of D-Bit and manage the relationship with D-Bit service providers        
  • Provide guidance to the various business units on applying our client  Capex policies        
 
Manage all cash books        
  • Review and authorize Cashbook transactions daily to ensure correct ledger allocations        
  • Review and authorize Cashbook payments daily to ensure accurate and valid        
  • Review and authorize bank EFT’s (ABSA, FNB) as well as weekly pay run payments (creditors and Milk)
  • Review bank account reconciliations on a monthly basis        
 
Ad-hoc functions/projects        
  • Prepare a semi-annual insurance value update on property, plant and equipment to be provided to the Risk Department for the semi-annual insurance policy update
  • Manage, sell and let surplus properties in our client  group        
  • Manage the relationship with our client ’s external fixed asset valuers       
  • Obtain property valuations from the external valuers for purposes of buying/selling of properties
  • Review the monthly rental schedule of rental invoices issued to external lessees
 
Manage people
  • Ensure all subordinates have clear objectives         
  • Manage employee performance – ensure all perform up to standard        
  • Ensure subordinates are competent in their functions – ensure training is provided where necessary        
  • Ensure positive staff morale and teamwork
