COMMERCIAL MARKETING MANAGER
 
ORGANISATION BACKGROUND
Our client is a leading, Cape Town based non-profit organisation, established in 1993. Besides South African registration, it is also registered with the UK Charity commission and has a solid donor base in the United Kingdom, Ireland and The Netherlands. It is one of the largest suppliers of converted containers to support early childhood development and literacy projects in poor communities throughout South Africa
 
POSITION CHARTER 
Reporting to the Director, the Cape Town-based position is responsible for the efficient and effective management of the marketing activities, which include multi-channel marketing and positioning, branding, effective fundraising, internal and external communications including public relations and events. Able to set out and manage detailed, integrated marketing channel plans to achieve high fundraising targets.
The individual needs to be positive, confident, welcoming and outgoing, with a can-do attitude, able to invite participation and enthusiasm. The ideal candidate must be results driven, a self-starter with high energy levels and willing to work as part of a team. This position will form part of the management team and will be involved in strategic planning to create future sustainability along with innovative ways of securing funds


We are looking for a very analytical / data centric marketer that really understand the commercial side of business and that has the ability to analyse internal and external data to maximise opportunities for the organisation. This ranges from large volumes of Face to Face data, direct mail data in three countries, programmes / monitoring data and opportunities for developing social impact. 
The organisation has a marketing, programmes and finance team who store data in three different databases across two countries. The successful candidate needs to have a flair for translating problems into solutions, a strategic mindset along with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic. 
This person will be supported by a strong Digital Marketing Specialist as well as a senior Administrator.
 
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
 
Essential: The incumbent will be somebody who is / has:
  • Passionate about marketing with solid corporate marketing and managerial experience (min. 5 years - corporate sector)
  • Bachelor's Degree with Marketing and or Business / IT or Business Science Majors
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification and high level of computer literacy 
  • Strong networking and relationship building ability 
  • Strong planning and project management ability – to manage multiple marketing channel plans and juggle multiple projects 
  • Excellent English, sound report-writing skills along with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills, strong numeracy and budget control skills, attention to detail 
  • Strong business acumen
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of M&E and how to translate data into impact for marketing purposes • Ability to work under pressure and a strong work ethic
  • Persuasiveness and the ability to influence others
  • Able to lead and motivate teams with cross-cultural sensitivity and able to manage diversity
  • High ethical standards
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation skills
  • Donor driven and able to set up and manage multi-channel donor care programmes (focus is on donor segmentation, legacy programmes, retention and reactivation) 
Proven track record of working with data, data analytics and data quality management
  • Ability to translate business problems into requirements for data and analytical constructs with ability to input on database design principles, design new data and analytics processes
