Property Accountant


Property Accountant who will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting for a diverse and national commercial real estate portfolio

This is an exciting opportunity to join a company in growth mode and be a part of an expanding portfolio. This Property Accountant will work as a part of a dynamic team and partner with property management in the day-to-day accounting for a national portfolio.

  • Take full ownership of portfolio of properties’ general ledgers and reporting
  • Reconcile monthly general ledger accounts
  • Work closely with various departments such as Asset Management, Property Management, Fund Accounting, Compliance, Corporate, etc.
  • Daily cash management, including accounts payable/receivable functions, vendor payments, expense reimbursements, cash collections, cash deposits, monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage and review reports for monthly, quarterly and annual closing packages
  • Ensure appropriate accounting entries are booked timely and accurately in the systems
  • Track and ensure compliance with deadlines for all relevant duties
  • Assist with departmental policies and procedures including annual reviews and periodic updates, as necessary
  • Perform ad hoc projects, as needed
  • Assist with annual audit process
  • Responsible for all property level accounting functions for assigned portfolio. All accounting is performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ensure any analysis / work product is accurate, thorough and neat
  • Effectively work and communicate with other members of the Company to ensure established deadlines are being met in an efficient manner
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related degree
  • Minimum of 2 years of real estate property accounting experience
  • Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts and how they drive the financial results of property operations
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail necessary
  • Motivated and results-driven with strong work ethic
